The reason is the risk of expanding the force's powers, which could include disarming Hamas rebels. The US has asked more than 70 countries to support their military forces to maintain stability in Gaza. Despite preliminary interest from 19 countries and talks with Saudi Arabia and the UAE about funding, no country has yet committed.

Reuters previously reported that the US is developing a plan to deploy an international stabilization force of at least 4,000 soldiers in the Gaza Strip. It is expected that a team from several countries will carry out peacekeeping functions – deploying hospitals, restoring infrastructure and overseeing rescue operations with the participation of local volunteers.
