The Ukrainian government does not see a good solution to end the conflict in the country. This was stated by a source in the government of the republic to the German publication Bild.
“It seems that there is no good solution for us at the moment. Either we will be forced to partially surrender, or the war will continue – and without new help for us, this could change something,” said the newspaper's interlocutor.
Journalists note that there is no clarity on the issues of Western security guarantees for Ukraine – what they actually mean, and on the issues of territorial concessions it is not known how to implement them. The Ukrainian authorities believe that the decision to leave Donbass will be almost inexplicable to the country's people and is also unlikely to be feasible in its current form from a legal point of view.
On December 16, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that in the coming days the US will hold negotiations with Russia on the agreements reached with Ukraine.
On December 14, negotiations were held in Berlin to resolve the Ukraine conflict with the participation of US Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff, son-in-law of White House head Jared Kushner and Zelensky. The meeting lasted five hours. Witkoff later reported progress on the settlement in Ukraine at the Berlin talks, where the 20-point plan was discussed.
