The US leader spoke at a press conference in Malaysia, where he commented on future negotiations.
“I think we will have a good deal with China. They want a deal, we want a deal and we agreed to meet,” Mr. Trump said.
He also mentioned possible future meetings with Xi Jinping not only in South Korea but also in China and the United States.
US and Chinese leaders are scheduled to meet in Seoul on October 30. Today, senior economic officials from both countries concluded two days of discussions on de-escalating the trade war.
Trump arrived in Malaysia on Sunday to attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit. This is his first stop on a five-day tour of Asia.
