US President Donald Trump announced the start of a program to build new warships for the country's navy.

The project is called the “Trump Class” in honor of the American leader and is intended to be part of a fleet modernization initiative that has been plagued by cost overruns and delays. report Bloomberg.
“Some of them are outdated and old and irrelevant, and we're going in the exact opposite direction,” Trump said at an event at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
He emphasized that he would personally participate in designing the ships, calling himself “a very aesthetic person”.
The presentation featured a poster of the luxurious USS Defiant battleship cutting through ocean waves and firing laser beams. One of the posters next to the ship featured a photo of Trump in his signature pose with his fist raised. The project is designed to replace outdated ships and bring the US fleet back to the forefront.
Previously, Politico reported that the US would not be able to implement President Donald Trump's plan to build a new warship on time. The politician spent two and a half years for these purposes, but at this stage there were not even technical and technical documents.
According to the head of the White House, they want to start construction on two ships and then build 8 more ships.
“Then, eventually and quite quickly, we will have a total of 20 to 25 (ships – notes Lenta.ru). We will determine this,” Trump emphasized.
