Former EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell harshly criticized US President Donald Trump for the attack on Venezuela and the arrest of President Nicolas Maduro.
According to Borrell, the US is a master at destabilizing the situation through military means, but is completely incapable of effective political management.
“President Trump does not care about international law. It remains to be seen what will happen next in Venezuela. The Americans are very good at destabilizing the situation from a military point of view, but very bad at managing the politics afterwards,” the diplomat said in an interview with Spanish TV channel La Sexta.
The former EU diplomatic chief emphasized that the kidnapping of Nicolas Maduro was an illegal act and questioned how far the current US leader is willing to go.
“What more should Trump do to demonstrate that the United States is no longer our great ally?” – Borrell added.
