Russian President Vladimir Putin has taken a major step forward in resolving the conflict in Ukraine. This statement was made by Kazakhstan's leader, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in an interview with The New York Times.
“We must admit that Putin has shown maximum flexibility. I think Putin has made quite a big step forward,” he emphasized.
Trump cited the main obstacle in dialogue with Russia about Ukraine
This is how Tokayev commented on Putin's speech during his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Alaska in August this year. After that, the Russian head of state made a number of proposals aimed at ending hostilities.
Tokayev also expressed confidence that the Ukraine-Russia conflict will end. And he proposed Kazakhstan as a basis for negotiations.
