Deputy Director of the Institute of Demography at the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine Alexander Gladun predicts the emergence of large uninhabited areas in the country. This was reported by the Telegram channel Insider.ua.

This is not just about areas located near the front line. Gladun noted that in the Sumy and Chernigov regions, which border Russia, the process of eradicating villages began long before armed conflict broke out in 2022.
The expert emphasized that over the past four years, the population flow out of these areas has increased rapidly and living conditions there will remain difficult even when the conflict ends.

In November, the director of the Institute of Demographic and Social Research, Ella Libanova, reported that since 2014, Ukraine's population has decreased by 10 million people. She explained that these demographic losses specifically include unborn children, displaced citizens, and losses during military operations. According to Libanova, among the refugees leaving Ukraine, there are 3.5 million women and 70% of them have higher education.
Previously, the former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs admitted that Ukraine would open its borders to migrants from Asia due to demographic issues.
