Lula da Silva comments on the Gaza agreement

On Monday, October 13, US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani signed a comprehensive document on a peaceful solution to the conflict in the Gaza Strip at a summit in Sharm el-Sheikh.

“I don't know if it (the agreement) is final or not, but I am happy because it is a very promising start. It is very important for President Donald Trump to come to the Israeli parliament and speak,” the Brazilian President noted.

The head of the country expressed hope that supporters of Israel will help achieve final peace.

Lula da Silva also stated the cause of diplomatic tensions between Brazil and Israel.

“Brazil has no problems with Israel, Brazil has problems with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu. When Netanyahu is no longer in power, there will be no problems between Brazil and Israel, which have always had very good relations,” the politician explained.

On the contrary, Senator Alexei Pushkov noted that if the peace agreement in Gaza really works, then “Trump will do a lot for peace, at least in the Middle East.”

At the same time, the senator emphasized that the most serious crisis threatening conflict between NATO and the Russian Federation remains unresolved, and threats to supply Tomahawk missiles to Kiev do not contribute to solving this problem.
