Xiaomi has announced a schedule for transitioning some of its smartphones to EOL (End of Life) status, which includes a complete stoppage of releasing operating system updates and security patches. XiaomiTime portal reports this.

According to the published schedule, the budget smartphone Redmi 12C will be the first budget smartphone to lose support at the beginning of 2026. In March 2026, the flagship models Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro will receive EOL status – for them, the last major update will be HyperOS 3. During the same period, support for Redmi Note 12 5G will be discontinued and remain on HyperOS 2. Xiaomi 12T and 12T Pro series will complete the update cycle in October 2026.
After EOL, devices will continue to function but will no longer receive new features or protection from current cyber threats. Termination of support means that the manufacturer completely refuses to release official firmware and security updates, which over time can negatively affect the level of data protection and general stability of the device.
HyperOS is Xiaomi's proprietary Android-based firmware used in smartphones and tablets from the Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco brands, as well as in devices in the company's ecosystem, including smart watches, TV set-top boxes, routers and smart home appliances. This platform was introduced in October 2023 and replaced MIUI.
