Technology fees for smartphones and laptops for Russian manufacturers and importers of electronics can reach 750 and 1,500 thousand rubles. Vedomosti newspaper reported this news with reference to sources.
According to them, the preliminary tax rates were stated in the proposal of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, sent for discussion with the participants of the Computer Engineering consortium.
According to market participants, this fee may be adjusted in the near future. Such tariffs are discussed for each unit of goods, regardless of the cost of the equipment. According to the Ministry representative, the fee is expected to be applied in stages. The first time, the tariffs will apply to already assembled devices, and the second – separately to electronic components used in device manufacturing.
On November 26, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said the introduction of technology fees would not affect electronics sales in Russia as the price increase would not be large.
