On Monday, November 10, 2025, residents of Russia's mid-latitudes will experience a period of increased geomagnetic activity. According to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory, the probability of a magnetic storm is 90%.

People who are sensitive to the weather should be prepared for possible deterioration of their health, and owners of electronic devices should be prepared for possible disruptions in navigation and communications. Read more in the URA.RU documentation.

Solar activity this week November 2025

According to current space weather observations, between November 7 and November 9, our planet's magnetosphere was in a relatively quiet state. According to information on the morning of November 9 (08:40 Moscow time), the geomagnetic index Kp is only 1 point, indicating a completely quiet magnetic field.

The current day is marked by moderate solar activity. In the past 24 hours and earlier in the day, experts recorded four C-type flares – the most common type of solar flare. The strongest of these occurred at 07:14 a.m. and reached a level of C6.28. Experts classify this as a normal outbreak and does not pose a serious threat.

In addition to this event, three more flares of lower intensity were recorded at night: C2.9 after midnight (maximum at 00:57), as well as two nearly simultaneous flares, C1.73 and C1.7, around 3:00 am. The last of them is associated with active zone number 4274. More powerful flares of types M and X, capable of causing severe geomagnetic effects, are not observed today.

The solar activity index, calculated based on data over the past two days, remains moderate with a maximum possible value of 10.0. The AP planetary geomagnetic index is 25 units, and the F10.7 radio flux, which reflects the intensity of solar radiation, reaches 169.

A strong magnetic storm will strike Earth

Storm forecast from November 10, 2025

According to calculations by experts from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory, November 10 will become important in terms of space weather. The probability of developing a magnetic storm is officially estimated at 90% – this is an extremely high number that deserves attention.

The predicted maximum geomagnetic index Kp is expected to be 4.67 points on a ten-point scale. Such values characterize the state of the magnetosphere excited with geomagnetic disturbances. This means that the Earth's magnetic field will have noticeable fluctuations, although the situation will not reach the level of a strong storm.

The Ap planet index for November 10 is predicted to be 12 units, significantly lower than today's 25 units. The F10.7 radio throughput will also decrease to 132 units from the current 169. However, the probability of geomagnetic disturbances is only 10%, which indicates a high degree of certainty of the main scenario – the development of a magnetic storm.

For residents of Moscow and other mid-latitude cities, including St. Petersburg, Arkhangelsk, Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan, Rostov-on-Don, Kaliningrad and Khabarovsk, tomorrow will be one of the days with increased geomagnetic activity. Maximum exposure is expected during the day.

It's worth noting that November 10 won't be the only problematic day of the month. According to long-term forecasts, excited magnetic fields will also occur on November 1-2, 7, 16, 24 and 27. It is predicted that a more serious situation will occur at the end of the month – November 25-26, when a weak magnetic storm with an intensity of up to 5 magnitude may appear.

What are magnetic storms and why do they happen?

Magnetic storms are global disturbances in our planet's magnetic field caused by interactions with streams of charged particles emitted from the Sun. When powerful processes occur on a star's surface—flashes and coronal mass ejections—clouds of solar plasma, consisting of protons and electrons, rush into outer space.

Arriving at Earth one to three days after ejection, these particles interact with the magnetosphere, our planet's invisible protective shield. As a result, the magnetic field begins to fluctuate and become disturbed, which is recorded by special devices around the world. The intensity of these oscillations is measured by many different indicators, the main one being the planetary index Kp.

During the first ten days of November, solar activity traditionally increases, which is tied to our star's natural cycles. The number of coronal emissions increases, becoming the cause of geomagnetic disturbances. For areas located in the middle latitudes, such phenomena are felt especially clearly.

How to reduce the negative effects of magnetic storms on the body

Doctors remind that even moderate geomagnetic fluctuations can affect the health of sensitive people. Typical manifestations of the effects of magnetic storms are headaches and migraines, increased blood pressure, increased fatigue and drowsiness, irritability and anxiety, and decreased ability to concentrate.

To minimize negative effects on days of increased geomagnetic activity, experts recommend following some simple rules. First of all, you should ensure a full night's sleep lasting at least seven to eight hours. Quality rest helps the body adapt better to external influences.

It is important to maintain a hydration regimen by drinking enough clean water throughout the day. This helps normalize blood circulation and reduce the load on the cardiovascular system. It is better to avoid strong coffee and energy drinks on such days, giving preference to herbal teas and natural juices.

It will be helpful to walk in the fresh air at a calm pace, a ventilated room and do gentle exercise. A diet should be made from easily digestible foods rich in vitamins and trace elements. Vegetables, fruits, lean fish and meat will help the body cope with additional loads.
