A solar power plant built by Norilsk Nickel begins operations in the Trans-Baikal Territory. The power plant includes more than a thousand Russian solar panels equipped with a sun tracking system.
The power plant's annual output will be about one million kWh. This volume is enough to ensure the energy consumption of the Bystry rotation camp during the day. The tracking system allows the panels to change position according to the sun's movement, increasing power generation efficiency by 20-25% compared to a static structure. The area of the power plant occupies one hectare.
During the first three weeks of operation, the plant saved about 200 thousand rubles on electricity purchases and reduced CO₂ emissions by 23 tons. On an annual basis, the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions will be 360 tons.
