In Iceland, a local resident discovered mosquitoes for the first time in history, according to local publication RUV.
According to journalists, on the evening of October 16, a resident discovered some insects and decided to take them for analysis. As a result, Mattias Alfredsson, an ethnologist at the Icelandic Institute of Natural History, confirmed that this was a mosquito.
According to Alfredsson, the appearance of mosquitoes on October 16 was the first in the country's history and it is now likely that mosquitoes will still exist on the island, because insects of the Culiseta annulata species are able to withstand cold weather.
