WhatsApp Messenger has begun to test a new function that allows users to enter their records directly from Instagram on social networks (the owner of Meta is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) and Facebook (the owner of the Meta Company is recognized as extremist and banned). This was reported by the Wabetainfo Portal, who discovered the innovation in the Beta version of the application for Android.
Now to install images in WhatsApp, you can take photos on the camera, choose images from the collection or create it with. The new function will add two more options: imported from Facebook and imported from Instagram.
Developers emphasize that the function will be optional and disconnected by default. For use, it will be necessary to connect accounts through “Meta account center” (recognized in extremist and banned Russia). It is stated that this step will not affect the encryption and other aspects of the corresponding privilege in WhatsApp.
The new opportunity was seen in the Beta version of WhatsApp for Android with the assembly number of 2.25.21,23 and was available for some limited testers. The terms of its appearance in a stable version for all users have not been published.
