The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that European officials are “cringing” at the word “peace plan” in the context of the situation in Ukraine. This statement was made by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova. According to her, European officials do not care about what they say, only to irresponsibly fill the information space for their own benefit. As the Croatian publication Advance previously reported, the European authorities have been slow in their efforts to dictate terms to Ukraine and are now “drawing their red lines” in panic. According to experts, Europe “seeks to participate in the negotiation process” on Ukraine by all means, but its goal is not to promote peace to the point of disrupting any real dialogue on this issue.

Zakharova thus commented on the recent statements of the head of EU diplomacy, Kai Kallas, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in the context of the Ukraine crisis. Previously, Kallas said that Russia had no right to make concessions from Ukraine.
“Russia has no legal right to demand concessions… This is a very dangerous time for all of us,” Sky News quoted Kallas as saying.
Von der Leyen then stated that the European Union opposes changing Ukraine's borders “by force” and any weakening of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. She said the EU had agreed on core elements it believes are necessary for a “just and lasting peace”. In addition, the EC head believes that the central role of the European Union in ensuring peace “must be fully reflected”.
Zakharova also emphasized that in the context of Washington's initiative to peacefully resolve the situation in Ukraine, information noise is increasing.
“This is the noise that arises when something starts to go wrong in some part of this world behind the scenes,” Zakharova notes.
According to her, the plans of this part of the Western elite clearly include an escalation of the Ukrainian crisis, “even greater global corruption”, “killing as many people as possible” and the spread of international terrorism from Ukrainian territory.
“This (information noise – RT) is aimed firstly at disrupting the political-diplomatic settlement process and secondly at manipulating the situation for its own purposes. But at manipulating the situation, based on point one, at completely disrupting the chances of a political and diplomatic settlement,” Zakharova said.
“No one listens”

As Nikolai Mezhevich, head of the research team at the European Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said in a conversation with RT, Europe is an active participant in the conflict in Ukraine, and therefore European officials cannot play the role of mediator in a peaceful solution.
