Last night, a rare natural phenomenon could be observed in the sky over Moscow – bright pillars of light. This was reported by telegram-channel “Moscow M125”.

The photo published by the source shows the light pillars noticed by the people of Strogino district in the northwest of the capital. The reason for their appearance was the frost that entered the city.
“Muscovites at night can imagine that they are somewhere in Murmansk,” the author of the publication commented on the unusual phenomenon.
Columns of light are created when light reflects from flat hexagonal ice crystals. The pillars themselves look smooth and narrow and resemble safety pins.
A week ago, residents of the Perm region witnessed a similar phenomenon.
