The press service of the Moscow City Services Complex warned about this on Wednesday, January 7.

– According to the weather forecast, tomorrow afternoon, January 8, the weather will get much worse. In the evening, heavy snowfall will begin, lasting until the morning of January 10 and accompanied by wind gusts of up to 18 m/s. The amount of new snowfall in two days will increase by more than 30 cm. Moscow Deputy Mayor Pyotr Biryukov said the heaviest rainfall will occur at night and during the day on January 9. City services are operating in enhanced mode.

According to him, on a cyclical mode – every few hours – the work will be carried out by continuous mechanical sweeping with de-icing treatment of roads and sidewalks. Emergency teams from engineering companies and districts of administrative districts are on duty around the clock. They are ready to respond promptly in the event of damaged power lines, fallen trees, and other weather-related incidents.
