In the coming hours, snowfall is expected to decrease markedly in the capital region. Leading expert at the Phobos weather center, Evgeniy Tishkovets, reported this on his Telegram channel.

According to his data, 14 mm of rain fell at the reference weather station VDNKh and at Balchug. At the same time, the amount of precipitation in Domodedovo was 21 mm, which is equivalent to 40% of the monthly norm.
“Under ideal conditions, one millimeter of precipitation is equivalent to about one centimeter of snow. In the morning, the height of snow in Moscow at weather stations was 30-32 cm, in some areas, according to unofficial data, in Kuzminki and Konkovo up to 54 cm. In the coming hours, the snow will begin to noticeably weaken,” the expert writes.
The day before, Moscow suffered heavy snowfall ahead of schedule caused by southern storm Francis. According to meteorologists, this may be the most intense January snowfall in the entire observation period. In some areas, up to two-thirds of the average monthly rainfall fell overnight.
