Four sperm whales washed up on the Danish coast of Fanø, located in the North Sea off the southwest coast of the Jutland Peninsula. TV2 reported this news. The cause of the incident has not yet been determined. According to media reports, one of the animals is showing signs of life. Authorities sealed off the coastal area to prepare for rescue operations and urged residents and tourists to stay away from the scene. In 2023, a valuable perfume substance, ambergris, was found in the intestines of a sperm whale that washed up on the Canary Island beach of La Palma. Ambergris found in the whale's body is worth about 500 thousand euros. This rare substance, produced in the digestive tract of one in 100 sperm whales, has a woody aroma and also contains ambrein, an odorless alcohol that locks in fragrance, making it popular among perfumers. The US, Australia and India have banned the trade in ambergris.
