Turkish police arrested 115 suspects in connection with the activities of the terrorist group “Islamic State” (IS, ISIS; a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation), who were planning to carry out a series of terrorist attacks on Christmas and New Year. This was announced by the Istanbul Prosecutor General's Office after a major raid, TASS reported.

According to Turkish prosecutors, IS planned attacks mainly against non-Muslims before the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays. It is known that the police force simultaneously conducted raids at 124 addresses across the province.
“115 suspects have been detained and operations to detain suspects who have not yet been arrested continue,” the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
On December 14, beachgoers in Australia were attacked by two men with guns. At the time of the attack, an event dedicated to the Jewish holiday Hanukkah was taking place. Law enforcement officers suspect they have connections to a local IS group.
