A “yellow” warning level was announced in the capital region on January 8 due to snowfall.

A “yellow” alert level has been declared for the capital region on Thursday, January 8 due to snow and ice. This information was reported by the Russian Hydrometeorological Center.

– Snow/ice. The warning time is from 9:00 a.m. on January 8 to 9:00 p.m. on January 8. On the afternoon of January 8, there was a blizzard, snowfall and icy roads in some areas, the website said.

It was clarified that the same warning is also in force in the Moscow region.

On January 7, cloudy weather is forecast in the capital area, with snow falling all day. The wind will blow from the Northwest at a speed of 2-5 meters/second, sometimes gusting up to 9 meters/second.

Forecaster of the Meteo forecasting center, Alexander Ilyin, said that severe frosts await Muscovites on the last holiday weekend, January 11, and then the city will begin to warm up.

The lowest temperature on Earth on January 1 was recorded by weather forecasters in Yakutia and Kolyma, the highest in Cameroon, Australia and Togo. At the same time, in the Cameroonian city of Garoua, a temperature of plus 40.4 degrees was recorded.
