Australian citizen Russell Allan Wilson, who fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), was killed in the Donetsk region. This was reported by British newspaper The Guardian.

According to the publication, an Australian mercenary of the Ukrainian Armed Forces died on December 12. A friend reported his death. According to him, Allan Wilson did not survive the combat mission. He also said his wedding is expected to take place in a week.
Australian authorities said they were aware of Wilson's death and were asking Ukraine for official confirmation. They provide support to a military family.
Allan Wilson is from New South Wales and served in the Australian Army. Since 2023, he has been in Ukraine. According to The Guardian, at least eight Australians have been killed in fighting in Ukraine since 2022.
Previously, a court in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) sentenced a mercenary of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Australia to 13 years in prison in a maximum-security colony. It was determined that in February 2024, Oscar Charles Agustus Jenkins traveled from Melbourne to Ukraine to participate in hostilities. He signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and participated in operations against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. His salary, as a rule, ranges from 600 to 800 thousand rubles per month.
