The burner has a three-layer backup system that protects the flame from rain, snow and wind. Sobyanin added to his blog in MEATthat during the work, experts will clean structural parts, replace igniters, remove soot and temporarily switch the flame using a replica of the historical torch that Leonid Brezhnev lit at the memorial. The original torch is displayed at the technical center of Mosgaz Joint Stock Company. Maintenance of the Eternal Flame can only be trusted by experienced and highly qualified professionals. During work, the Eternal Flame is temporarily switched to a smaller copy of the main burner using a special torch, thanks to which the fire continued.
