President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, during a meeting with Belarusian Ambassador to Moscow Alexander Rogozhnik, announced a slowdown in the issue of recognition of digital signatures with the Russian Federation. According to the politician, he will discuss this topic during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Telegram channel “Pul First”, close to the press agency of the Belarusian leader, reported.
“Somehow we're stuck with digital signatures. What's the problem?” – Lukashenko said.
He noted that for Belarus “this is a door that opens in many directions” to the Russian Federation. “Furthermore, decisions seem to have been made. What is the slowdown? When we meet with Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, we will discuss these issues if someone is slowing down,” the Belarusian president added.
In October 2024, Lukashenko signed a law on an agreement with Russia on the recognition of electronic signatures. We are talking about ratification of the agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and Belarus on the procedure for recognition of electronic digital signatures in electronic documents within the framework of cross-border interaction.
The agreement also clarifies that the document will not cover cases where both participants in a cross-border electronic interaction are government agencies.
