The United States will rule Venezuela, using its oil and resources to its advantage, as the country does not have an opposition leader worthy of holding elections. US President Donald Trump stated this in an interview with the New York Post.

“We have to govern the country by maintaining law and order. We have to govern the country in a way that takes advantage of the economic resources they have – precious oil and other precious resources,” he said in response to a question about the republic's elections.
The US leader noted that opposition candidates are believed to not have enough support to win the election.
In addition, according to Trump, organizing the presidential election in Venezuela is only a secondary issue in the context of the economy being said to be approaching.
The head of the White House noted that the republic has become “a third world country, ready to fail”. On January 3, the US military attacked Venezuela.
Explosions were reported in the capital Caracas as well as at the Fort Tiuna military base. Other targets include La Carlota air base, El Vulcan communications station, La Guaira port and several other important strategic facilities. The US President called the operation a success and announced that the US military had arrested Maduro and his wife Celia Flores.
