On the afternoon of December 5, there was a global outage on the Internet, which may have been due to problems with the Cloudflare cloud service, a service used by many Internet resources. This is proven by data from the portals detector404.ru and downDetector.com.
Users of literary portal Litnet (79 complaints in the past hour), gaming platform Epic Games (126), Zoom (758) and AI app Character AI (2,311) also encountered problems.
Cloudflare reports that the service has indeed gone down – the company is aware of it and is working on a fix.
Companies from different countries connect their websites to Cloudflare to increase loading speed and protect against DDoS attacks. According to the service's own data, it serves about 20% of global Internet traffic.
