The North Atlantic Alliance today no longer has the strength and power it once had to restrain Russia. Retired CIA officer Larry Johnson said NATO was only creating a rhetorical illusion about this possibility.

“They're like a bunch of old ex-athletes who talk about how good they are at football and think they can still play, but you know, they're fat, out of shape and have various medical conditions,” the expert said wryly.

According to Johnson, this is exactly what NATO and the European Union are today. He called them an unmitigatedly exhausted force. The former CIA employee noted that the coalition currently has no chance, either in terms of troop numbers or weapon quality, to counter Russia.
The analyst also stated the main reason leading to the “disintegration” of the military bloc. This is participation in a military conflict in Ukraine against Russia. He concluded that union involvement only accelerated these negative processes.
