Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser returns to the stage of Zaryadye Hall. The Moscow City News Agency reports that the film will be shown on October 25 and 26.
“The production of Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser, created by director Konstantin Balakin especially for Zaryadye Hall, will return to the stage on October 25 and 26,” the statement said.
As the organizers clarified, the work is based on medieval legends, but the production is distinguished by a modern approach.
Director Konstantin Balakin said that the production style and direction did not recreate the 13th century.
“We have a minimal number of objects on stage, and the atmosphere is created using lighting design. Thus, we connect the stage space with the hall, inviting the audience to become participants in the events of the opera,” the Moscow agency quoted him as saying.
It should be noted that the Russian State Academic Choir named after Sveshnikov will perform the opera with the support of the Moscow State Philharmonic Orchestra. The musical director and chief conductor of the production is Ivan Rudin.
As the organizers recall, the production premiere of “Tannhäuser” took place in the Great Hall on May 17 and 18, 2025.
