Apple has transferred the start of selling iPhone air in China due to the inability to install the SIM card in it. It was reported by South China Morning Post (SCMP).
Initially, the company planned to bring the iPhone Air to the Chinese market on September 19, and with the iPhone 17 series, but now the official page of this model shows that the new day will be published later.
The main reason for the delay is related to the implementation of ESIM technology. Unlike previous models sold in China with just a sim-loot, the iPhone Air was stripped of a physical connector for the card. According to SCMP, Apple hopes to start selling with the support of China Unicom, one of the three largest mobile operators in the country. However, local management agencies requested similar agreements achieved with China Mobile and China Telecom.
China Mobile has announced the support of ESIM for smartphones into its service by posting a corresponding message on Weibo. The final coordination with China Telecom, according to experts, is still a matter of time.
